BAM! Recording session @ Range

Groove is more important than notes…

Ive learned its not so important which notes you play as long as they feel good. This concept has taken my musical journey in a much less analytical direction. My brain is now able to do less work to make music sound the way I want it to. As a drummer, my focus is to lock in the groove. When Im jamming with a bass player, I dont want to get lost considering how difficult and impressive I can make my beat. I want to find something basic that feels good and build on it. Eventually, this might lead to a very complex beat. It may lead to a more generic beat. Wherever it leads, my goal is to keep it grooving. The second the groove is lost is when I havent accomplished what Im aiming for.
